b d p q

These letters can be very tricky for children they all look very similar and students second guess because they write the line/stick then think where do I put the circle bit.

I will teach them some writing rhymes for each letter and by learning these 4 in particular your child will develope confidence and success at writing b, d, p, q.

A good indication that they are confused about how to form them is that they are writing them as CAPITAL LETTERS or saying which side do I put the circle on.

Remember practise makes perfect so play some games with your child, write in soap on the bath, write in the foggy windows, write in the air, use your spoon to write in the mashed potatoes, write in the sand, use your finger and write get your child to write on your back but  – write write write.
