The main question I am asked abut the website is will my child be safe?
My answer is YES!!!!
Your child can be identified as a student at Willunga Primary School in Room 1B.
There are no links on this website that can link directly to your child, your child cannot be contacted via the website.
I moderate everything including comments from other people, that go on to our site.
I never put names with a photo or include personal information. (Apart from our email and information about me – the teacher)
In our class we are logged on through a generic class name
When we are on the internet we work with a buddy
We have very specific rules for using the internet
The main rule is we use the internet only with adult supervision.
Before allowing your child to use the internet you need to establish rules with them.
I recommend the following site to assist you in developing these.
Computers like clean hands (no food or drink anywhere near the computers.)
No Button Pushing (Phil is very clever and can turn them on and off from his room.)
Listen carefully to instructions
If you need help put up your hand. (If you are out of your seat Mrs. C or G can’t help you because she cant see your computer!)
Ask Questions – try your friend first.
If you are helping it means talking and pointing! (Put your hands behind your back and tell how to do it – you can point but you can’t do it for them.)
Using the INTERNET
Use the Internet only with adult supervision.
Never tell anyone on line your name, passwords or personal information. Use an avatar if you need a picture.
If a pop up box opens check with the teacher before clicking/opening it.
No Downloading (That’s the teachers job)
If you see something that you don’t like tell the teacher straight away.
Only go on the internet with teacher permission.
On the Internet Work with a buddy and do ‘Buddy Watch’, watch each other to keep each other safe.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ANY INTERNET SITE MAY HAVE LINKS TO OUTSIDE OR UNSAFE AREAS AND SO SHOULD ONLY BE USED WITH SUPERVISION.
